ABOUT
Rulan Benedict is a queer, Texas-based writer who explores themes of identity, memory, bonds, and the environments that shape us through upmarket and speculative fiction. Her favorite artistic technique is chiaroscuro, which she strives to apply to her written work by blending lyrical narratives and gritty realism, with moments of humor to light the way.
When not clacking at the keyboard, she can be found playing video games with a cat in her lap, working on her next home project, or stalking the neighborhood crows.
She is currently querying her first novel.

JOURNEY
Rulan started her professional career the way many college graduates seeking financial independence do: in consulting. While not the most fertile ground for creativity, she was able to learn widely across her clients' industries and discovered the world of tech, her next horizon.
She has been a Product Manager for five years now, with experience in the interior design & architecture and gig economy spaces. She currently works in video games, which she will say has been a different beast but twice as rewarding.
Some time in late 2024, on a sabbatical between jobs, she started a new journey in writing—or rather, a continuation of one embarked on many years ago. The goal this time was not to finish it, but to commit to its never-ending windings, roadblocks, and U-turns.
